Tablet PC Support

At DePauw and and Tri-State (now Trine), I worked with faculty members to support Tablet PCs for teaching and learning. Tablet PCs are essentially laptops that have a special screen that can be written on with a stylus. The implications for teaching and learn are many, including writing digital ink (inking) on word documents, PowerPoint files, and PDF files.

I helped teach and support faculty members as they learned about the benefits of using a tablet and how it can enhance their teaching. At DePauw, I helped support a grassroots Tablet PC initiative driven by the faculty. My role was to consult with faculty members who were interested in being a part of a pilot group and show them the Tablet PC's capabilities and relate it to their field and their teaching and learning goals. Also, DePauw started a student Tablet PC initiative and I trained interested students how to use their Tablet PCs from a student perspective. A paper in Educause Quarterly, for which I am a coauthor explains the Tablet PC initiatives at DePauw in more detail.
