FITS Orientation
I designed an orientation site to help train our undergraduate interns starting out in Faculty Instructional Technology Support (FITS) at DePauw University. In addition to filling a need in my department, it was also a deliverable in one of my graduate classes. The purpose of the site was to familiarize students with instructional design principles, instructional technology and explain project management.
I used Dr. Merrill's First Principles of Instruction to ensure that the site activated interns' existing knowledge, gave good demonstrations of good practices, allowed the interns to practice their new knowledge, and apply their new knowledge to turn in an authentic deliverable.
Finally, I piloted the site with real interns in the department and gathered feedback for improving the site for full implementation.
